Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives

The Christian Literature House Society (CLHS), founded by Mr. Philemon Kamel, plays a crucial role in addressing pressing challenges facing Northeast India. Beyond their core focus on environmental conservation, including climate change mitigation through afforestation and sustainable agriculture, CLHS also actively engages in animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts. This includes rescuing animals from abusive situations, providing veterinary care, and rehabilitating them for release back into the wild or placement in suitable homes. Recognizing the interconnectedness of all these issues, CLHS champions women’s rights, advocates for gender equality, and empowers women. Furthermore, they address issues of human rights, social justice, and advocate for the rights of marginalized communities, ensuring access to safe and adequate housing for vulnerable populations. By focusing on these critical areas, CLHS contributes to the well-being of marginalized communities, promotes sustainable development, and fosters a more just and equitable society in Northeast India.

Christian Literature House Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underprivileged communities in Northeast India. Through a multifaceted approach, CLHS works to improve the lives of marginalized populations by focusing on key areas such as community development, sustainable livelihoods, and women's empowerment. CLHS also promotes sustainable agriculture practices, such as organic farming and permaculture, to enhance food security and generate income for rural communities. Recognizing the crucial role of women in community development, CLHS empowers women through initiatives like self-help groups, microfinance programs, and awareness campaigns on women's rights. By fostering self-reliance and addressing social inequalities, CLHS plays a vital role in improving the lives of underprivileged people in Northeast India and contributing to the overall development of the region.
